55NiCrMoV7 -- Ni-Cr-Mo-V die steel for forging hammers and drop hammers. HRC 36-42 service. Outstanding toughness combined with adequate hot hardness for impact-loaded hot forging dies.
55NiCrMoV7 (EN 1.2714) per EN ISO 4957. Higher Ni (1.5-1.8%) than H13 gives much better toughness -- essential for forging hammer dies that see extreme impact at 600-800 impact/hour. Surface wear resistance lower than H13 but impact endurance far superior. Standard for drop forging hammer dies for steel and aluminium, die holders and bolster plates.
